Integrated and modular amusement park solutions and services provider Galasys PLC (Galasys) has secured 25 new contracts, signalling a surge in the themes park sector of Tourism in Asia.
Founded 2005 in China by Malaysians, Galasys’ chief executive Sean Seah said the 25 new contracts and new projects in the last quarter of 2015, worth GBP1.1 (RM6.36) million, include Asia’s First Animation Theme Park, Movie Animation Park Studios (MAPS), which is being built in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia by Animation Theme Park for a cost of RM450 (US$109.91) million. MAPS features more than 40 attractions in 6 thematic zones and is targeted to complete in 2016. Their contract with Galasys is worth RM1.37million (US$330,000).
“2015 has been a good year for Galasys,” said Seah. “Galasys continues to build on its position as a provider of integrated and modular amusement park solutions and services in China and South East Asia.”
“In addition to our ongoing projects, in the last quarter, we have secured 7 new customers and 18 of our existing customers purchased new solutions to complement their business directions,” he said.
Included in the new contracts, Galasys secured four significant contracts in China. Domestic tourism contributed 4 percent of China’s GDP with the domestic market making up 71 percent of Chinese tourism (China National Tourism Administration – CNTA). In the last 5 years, domestic tourism has seen a continuous year-on-year increase of above 10 percent.

“Our expertise in the Chinese market is sought after by not only Asian businesses but also by foreign theme parks looking to enter the Chinese Market,” he said, as shown in the following (GBP figures are included as the company is also registered in the UK as Galaysis PLC):
• East Shenzhen OCT – RMB1.74 million (c. GBP181,000)
Dameisha holiday scenic spot is a 168 hectare waterfront park, designed by Atkins which encompasses 180,000m2 sized beach, 432m of long sunshine corridor, 13,000m2 Sun Plaza, 4,000m2 Moon Plaza, 230 parking spaces and various beach attractions.
• Shanxi Dream Waterpark – RMB1.35 million (c. GBP141,000)
The result of a RMB600 million investment, Shanxi Dream Waterpark is a 30,000m2 park located in Xiaoyi City, Shanxi Province. Its year round sunny weather, allows, the park to operate 365 days. This waterpark is the result of a joint Chinese and American partnership and can accommodate up to 3 million visitors in a year.
